Christian iconography artist – Ilona Thomson

One of the absolute joys of being an artist is meeting other artists whose work stops you in your tracks.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Ilona Thomson, a painter specialising in iconography, frescoes, and murals, and her work is quite extraordinary. Seeing it through my New Zealand eyes, so far removed from the great cathedrals and sacred spaces of Europe where much of her work lives, made it feel all the more special.

Ilona’s work has a depth, reverence, and timeless quality that is rare. When I look at her work I get this sense of genuine awe, which I can't say I've felt before with any modern art.
