Sharing my story on the Creative Connections podcast

I had the absolute pleasure of joining Mandy Jakich on her Creative Connections podcast recently, and I’m so excited to share the episode with you!

In our conversation, I was able to reflect on my journey as a fibre artist – how I came to work with natural fibres like New Zealand wool, bamboo, and cotton, and why I’m so passionate about creating art that is tactile, sustainable, and inspired by the beauty of Aotearoa.

We talked about:

• My process as a needle-felting fibre artist – from the fibres and tools I use, through to the layering technique I’ve developed.

• The ideas that sit behind my work and how I approach colour, texture, and design.

• The many different creative avenues I’ve explored: from teaching workshops, developing felting kits, writing books, and curating merchandise, through to building a sustainable art business.

• The realities of being a “purpose-driven multi-passionate” – balancing art with my full-time job and community projects.

• Why aligning to your purpose, understanding your “why”, and embracing both success and failure are so important for creatives.
