‘By Her Side’, latest needle-felted fibre painting

This is my first larger fibre painting in quite some time, as I’ve recently been focused on my bookmark series. Titled ‘By Her Side’, this piece was inspired by the vital work of Pet Refuge NZ, who help people escaping domestic violence take their pets with them.

I wanted to capture the moment when someone steps into the unknown of a new life – companion by their side – with a sense of freedom and possibility.
