Art of the Ordinary 14: Hydrangea ‘fertile flower’

‘Divine’ needle-felted fibre painting, small artwork by Sarah Ritchie.

Art of the Ordinary photo series 14. Did you know that at the very centre of some hydrangea florets is a tiny blue centre? Not all hydrangea have them, and apparently it's called the ‘fertile flower’ (just to be confusing). I’d never noticed this before today. They are so delicate and pretty, especially against the white petals.

Art of the Ordinary – the everyday, reimagined.
