Working with wood at The Community Shed

Sarah Ritchie at The Community Shed, Auckland.

A couple of years ago I did a night school course in picture framing, to frame my original 2D needle-felted fibre art paintings. The course reminded me how much I enjoy working with wood (the smell of wood is divine!). I did woodworking (and engineering and technical drawing) at high school, but haven't had a lot of opportunity since then.

After doing the framing course I joined The Community Shed (part of the Men's Shed network), here in Auckland. It's a wonderful resource if you love working with wood or metal but don't have your own space or equipment. There are also lots of lovely members who are more than happy to share their wealth of experience.

Today we were doing our obligatory health and safety equipment assessments (to prove we won't cut off our fingers). Joy!
